Giants star Saquon Barkley doesn’t want to be traded before NFL deadline
The New York Giants had a stellar year during the 2022 NFL season. Head coach Brian Daboll is seemingly the missing piece to the puzzle in the Big Apple. Along with winning NFL Coach of the Year, Daboll led the team to the playoffs. New York was able to upset the Minnesota Vikings before being eliminated by the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Everything just seemed to come together at the right time for the Giants last season, which led to a lot of optimism about the 2023 NFL season, but the team has fallen far short of expectations and has arguably taken two steps back rather than a giant leap forward.
Want $250 to bet on the NFL?
With the Giants headed in a downward spiral, star running back Saquon Barkley hopes the team doesn’t trade him ahead of the NFL trade deadline later this month via ESPN.
“Sitting here, everyone knows how I feel. Everyone knows I don’t want to get traded,” Barkley said. “I don’t think anyone in their right mind would want to get traded anywhere. It’s not an easy thing to do. You have to move. I have a family. I would love to be here.
“But like I said, it’s not in my control. My focus is to be the leader I can be for this team and get this thing on the right track.”

At this point, the 2023 campaign is looking more and more like a lost cause for the Giants, which means the team might seriously consider trading Barkley if the team gets some intriguing offers in the coming weeks. Barkley has struggled to stay healthy once again this season but is still one of the best backs in the league that would likely bring in a nice trade haul.
