Jadeveon Clowney ‘advised’ to wait to choose to sign with a team

The biggest name still available ahead of the start of the 2020 NFL season is three-time Pro Bowler, Jadeveon Clowney. The 27-year-old free agent has been taking his time to make a decision in free agency and it appears he’ll be waiting a little bit longer, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.

Over the past few months, the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Seattle Seahawks have been interested. No team has emerged as the favorite as of yet. Although, the Titans and Saints seem to feel good about their chances to land the veteran defensive end.

With Week 1 right around the corner, teams are making moves to cut down their roster before getting the season underway next week. The team that ends up signing Clowney will undoubtedly improve their defense and pass rush for the 2020 campaign as long as he can stay healthy and productive.

Last season, Clowney played 13 games for the Seahawks after being traded to Seattle by the Houston Texans on Sept. 1. In the three previous seasons with Houston, he made the Pro Bowl each year but fell short with the Seahawks.

Jadeveon Clowney recorded 3.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and two defensive touchdowns for Seattle in 2019. He seemed like the ideal fit for Pete Carroll and company, but his time in Seattle may be shortlived if any other interested teams have their way once he decides to sign.
