Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew has Multiple Fractures, Strained Right Thumb

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the midst of yet another disappointing season. The franchise was hoping to begin to turn things around during this 2020 NFL season. However it hasn’t happened, and now starting quarterback Gardner Minshew is injured.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars quarterback is dealing with a number of injury issues.

X-rays taken this week revealed that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb, league sources told ESPN.

It remains uncertain how much time Minshew could miss as a result of these injuries, but he has been dealing with the thumb issues since earlier this month.

The Jaguars (1-6) didn’t know about Minshew’s injury until this week, per sources.

It is uncertain whether Minshew will be able to play when Jacksonville returns from its bye to host the Texans.

At 1-6, Jacksonville is likely concerned about Minshew’s injuries, but not devastated by them. This will be another year in which the team must contemplate the future and what direction they want to go in moving forward.

In seven games for the Jaguars thus far, Minshew has thrown 1,855 yards, 13 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. He has also rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown.

It remains to be seen whether Minshew is the long-term option under center for the Jaguars as the struggling franchise tries to build the team into a winner.
