Jalen Ramsey hints at being on the same page with Rams on long-term extension
When the Los Angeles Rams made the blockbuster deal to land star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, it put a ticking clock on his contract talks.
With Jalen Ramsey heading into the final year of his deal, it has only further raised questions about when that next extension will be worked out. During an interview on Tuesday afternoon, the Pro Bowler made it clear that the team knows where he stands with his contract situation, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“The Rams know where I stand, and I think that’s all that matters at the end of the day,” Ramsey said.
Jalen Ramsey did state that he wouldn’t go the route of a holdout if a new deal isn’t in place before the start of the 2020 season. These comments alone speak to there being a strong level of confidence that a long-term extension is possible.

The Rams haven’t spoken to much about a new deal for Ramsey, but it’s clear that they view him as a long-term piece of the puzzle. Los Angeles knew that going into acquiring him before last year’s trade deadline that it would take a significant financial commitment to keep him for the long haul.
Head coach Sean McVay did recently state that he believes Ramsey could reset the market at his position with his next deal with the Rams. There may not be a timeline for a new contract, but it sounds like it may be imminent in the coming months ahead of the 2020 season.
