Lamar Jackson, Ravens can’t find common ground on new contract
In the weeks ahead of the 2022 season, the focus around the Baltimore Ravens sat on star quarterback Lamar Jackson’s contract situation.
Jackson is in the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. However, both have expressed strong mutual interest in working out a long-term extension. However, the former league MVP failed to reach to a new deal before Week 1 action.

Despite that, head coach John Harbaugh voiced that he believes that a lucrative contract can be worked out next offseason.
“I think all the feelings you would expect that anybody would have you probably have,†Harbaugh said via Pro Football Talk. “Probably not for me as much because I wasn’t directly involved in any back and forth. You’re hopeful. Those things will work themselves out in the end,
I’m confident in that. I said at the beginning, that’ll happen when it’s time and when it’s time it’ll happen. Lamar’s playing quarterback, he’s going to be playing quarterback here for a long time. He and I talked about it yesterday a little bit, like ‘OK, let’s go be our best and go focus on football.’ That’s what he’s been doing all along. I know nothing will change with that and just focused on Sunday.â€
Over the last few weeks, reports indicated that the Ravens were comfortable offering Jackson a contract worth well over $200 million. However, it appears that the star quarterback is willing to play the 2022 campaign to prove he’s worth the deal he wants.
