Marshawn Lynch agrees to two-year deal with Seattle Seahawks

Once head coach Pete Carroll decided to pass on second down in the infamous play of Super Bowl XLIX, the future of veteran running back Marshawn Lynch with the Seattle Seahawks was up in the air. Lynch was already considering walking away from the game and even the Seahawks seemed to be kicking the tires on the idea of trading him elsewhere earlier in the season.
Once Malcolm Butler picked off Russell Wilson’s pass, many believe Lynch was slighted by Coach Carroll. Some believed Carroll wanted to give the glory of a Super Bowl-winning play to the politically correct Wilson rather than the constantly controversial Lynch.
Regardless of all the buzz swirling about that fateful play in the Super Bowl and the impact it may have on Lynch’s future, the veteran back will be back for another three seasons, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:
Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has agreed to terms on a new contract that covers the next three years.  And he’ll be paid at the high end of the running back market.
Although retirement seemed like path Lynch was seriously considering, the one-time Super Bowl champion is content with returning to Seattle for at least three more seasons. With Lynch still at the top of his game and the Seahawks build to be a contender for years to come, it isn’t all that surprising that he’d decide to return.
Currently, the Seahawks have 15 to 2 odds to win Super Bowl 50, according to Sportsbook.ag. Also, Seattle is favored ahead of the Green Bay Packers (4 to 1) to win the NFC at 7 to 2.
With Lynch back in the fold, and still playing at an elite level, the Seahawks will be a forced to be reckoned with one again in the NFC.
