Top 10 NFL teams positioned to make Super Bowl run

10. Houston Texans

Houston isn’t getting much love this offseason, but the Texans are in this conversation. They have a quality quarterback in Deshaun Watson and a litany of elite players around him on the roster. If things break right, Houston could play deep into January.

9. Chicago Bears

The biggest question here is Mitchell Trubisky. Is he good enough to lift an offense with average playmakers to the Super Bowl? It’s tough to say yes here, but the chance remains.

8. Indianapolis Colts

Fran Reich and Andrew Luck are a terrific combination. The rest of the roster isn’t quite ready to compete for a Super Bowl unless guys take huge leaps, but the tandem at the top makes the dream realistic. Indianapolis is going to be a force come December and on.

7. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers and a revamped defense has to be on this list. Look, Rodgers is a first-ballot Hall of Famers and the defense has added Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage in the secondary, with Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith coming in to help the pass rush. It’s an intriguing team.

6. Los Angeles Rams

Todd Gurley might not be the same guy, but Sean McVay and Jared Goff aren’t going down quietly. The division isn’t great, the Rams should win double-digit games and be a contender down the stretch.

5. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers might have the best roster in the NFL. The offense has Philip Rivers, Keenan Allen, Melvin Gordon (maybe), Austin Ekeler and Hunter Henry. The defense has Melvin Ingram, Joey Bosa, Derwin James, Casey Hayward and Desmond King. Enough said.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

If Carson Wentz is healthy, the Eagles are absolutely a strong Super Bowl contender. Philadelphia has talent all over the depth chart and certainly has the experience to go deep into the second season.

3. New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees is 40 years old. The Saints are undoubtedly in win-now mode. Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara should help in that endeavor. If New Orleans doesn’t win this time around, it might be starting to get late in the Big Easy.

2. New England Patriots

Tom Brady and Co. are going for their fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance this season. The front seven isn’t great, the weapons are of great concern, but it’s Brady and Bill Belichick. The Patriots will always, always be there.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is involved. So is a revamped defense. The Chiefs are loaded and hungry.
