NFL power rankings, AFC edition: Chiefs rule it again
Looking at our NFL power rankings going into Week 16 in the AFC, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs and everybody else.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s been quite the week for the Jaguars, who were swept by the Texans but at least they fired Urban Meyer. Progress?
15. Houston Texans
Houston is horrific, but it won’t be finishing in last place of the AFC South. There’s plenty to fix, but the Texans are at least trying.
14. New York Jets
The Jets have the deadly combination of being absolutely horrific on defense while also dealing with arguably the league’s worst quarterback.
13. Cleveland Browns
At 7-7, the Browns are only a game out in the AFC North, but it feels like a very long road considering how the season has gone.
12. Las Vegas Raiders
For Las Vegas, it’s win out and hope for a ton of help in the AFC playoff picture.

11. Denver Broncos
The Broncos needed to beat the Bengals at home but couldn’t do it. The playoffs are getting more and more unlikely.
10. Miami Dolphins
Miami has to run the table and, much like the Raiders, hope it can get the right combination of help.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers
If the Steelers win out, there’s a good chance they move up the NFL power rankings and make the playoffs. However, they play the Chiefs, Browns and Ravens. Not easy.
8. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore is taking on so much water with injuries and close losses, but still controls its own destiny to win the AFC North.

7. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals scored a huge win at Denver on Sunday, and now hosts the Ravens for their biggest game of the year.
6. Indianapolis Colts
If the Colts can go to Arizona and beat the Cardinals on Christmas night, they’ll almost guarantee themselves a playoff berth.
5. Tennessee Titans
Tennessee is going to win its division, but can the Titans find a way to the No. 1 seed?
4. Los Angeles Chargers
After losing to the Chiefs on Thursday night, Los Angeles needs to simply win a few games and get to the playoffs as a wild card team.
3. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo has a chance to win the AFC East by beating the Patriots this Sunday and then handling the Falcons and Jets at home.
2. New England Patriots
Beat the Bills this weekend at Foxboro, and New England essentially clinches the division. Biggest game of the year for Bill Belichick and Co.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
After starting 3-4, the Chiefs have ripped off seven straight wins, and have the AFC’s top seed. Unreal.
