NFL Week 11 games: 5 teams that need a win

While everybody wants to win, these five teams have to find a way in NFL Week 11 action, or their playoff chances take a huge hit.

5. Arizona Cardinals (4-6)

The Cardinals are somehow still in the race despite being wholly underwhelming for the first 10 weeks of the season. Now, they host the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night in Mexico, trying to make a move in the NFC West. However, it’s unclear whether Kyler Murray or Colt McCoy are going to be starting under center, while star receiver DeAndre Hopkins is also a game-time decision. With a loss, it’s over for the birds.

4. Buffalo Bills (6-3)

Buffalo isn’t in danger of falling out of the playoff picture in a serious way, but this is an important moment. The Bills are 6-3 after losing two straight games, and now get the Cleveland Browns in what has become a neutral site game in Detroit due to weather. A loss here, and the AFC East suddenly becomes a real question, while Buffalo’s chances of getting the No. 1 seed are all but up in smoke.

3. Washington Commanders (5-5)

The Commanders have found something in quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who is the clear starter having taken over for Carson Wentz. Washington was able to handle the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, and now must avoid the dreaded trap game against the one-win Houston Texans. Should Heinicke and Co. handle business and beat Houston, the Commanders will be 6-5 in NFL Week 11 and make it possible for all four NFC East teams to make the postseason.

2. New England Patriots (5-4)

Huge game out of the bye for New England, who takes on the Jets in Foxboro. New York, also out of its rest week, is 6-3 and trying to put the Patriots to bed for good in the ultra-competitive AFC East. However, if New England wins, it earns a season sweep of the Jets and starts becoming a strong contender for one of the last AFC playoff spots as a wild card. No game this week has bigger consequences for the two participants.

1. Cincinnati Bengals (5-4)

The Bengals have to win this game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s an absolute must, or it’s impossible to picture Cincinnati making it to the postseason. Why? Because the Bengals would be 5-5 and still have games against the Chiefs, Bills, Buccaneers, Ravens, Patriots, Browns (with Deshaun Watson) and Titans. Not an easy contest in the bunch. Tough to see 5-2 or better out of that stretch.
