NFL Week 12 lines: 5 best games to bet underdogs

Looking at the NFL Week 12 lines, there’s good reason to bet some underdogs in good spots. Here are the top five.

5. Carolina Panthers (+3.5) at Minnesota Vikings

With Teddy Bridgewater likely back in the fold, Carolina has a capable offense. How many people know both D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson are on pace for 1,000-yard campaigns? This group goes against a Minnesota defense which gave up 31 points in a defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. Look for this game to be back and forth, with the last time holding the ball getting the win.

4. Chicago Bears (+8.5) at Green Bay Packers

This is all about the number. Look, nobody is excited to see Mitch Trubisky lead an offense with Allen Robinson and nobody else, but history says this spread is too high. Chicago lost in both matchups against the Packers by one score last year, and there’s no reason to think it’s different this time. The last two Green Bay home games have been the Packers beating the Jacksonville Jaguars by four points and a loss to Minnesota. Not ideal.

3. Los Angeles Chargers (+5) at Buffalo Bills

Again, all about the number. Although, it’s also about the quarterbacks here. Justin Herbert looks to be a superstar in the making for Los Angeles, and the Bills have struggled to generate pass rush all year. Herbert will have time to throw, making this look like a shootout. Josh Allen has been a borderline MVP candidate for Buffalo, and although Los Angeles has individual defensive talent, the unit hasn’t worked well at times.

2. Tennessee Titans (+3) at Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are without two of their best players, and their best defensive stars — alongside linebacker Darius Leonard — in tackles DeForest Buckner and Denico Autry. Indianapolis will have a tough time shutting down Titans running back Derrick Henry, who will be facing a soft interior. Maybe the Colts find a way, but signs are pointing towards an upset, or at the very least, an extremely close game.

1. Atlanta Falcons (+3) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Upset pick of the week. Las Vegas is coming off a very emotional, hard-fought game in primetime against the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the Raiders have to drag themselves across the country to take on a three-win Falcons team in a quiet, sleepy dome at 10:00 a.m. PT. This is ultimate trap game against a bad team who has enough weapons to make Las Vegas pay.
