NFL Week 5 2022: 5 teams on upset alert this weekend

The NFL Week 5 schedule has plenty of intriguing games, but these five teams are on upset alert more than the others.

5. Los Angeles Rams (-5.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys

This is a really intriguing game. both teams should be able to get pressure on the opposing quarterback, and that could mean turnovers. When you have a game that could be volatile, take the points and potentially, the outright upset. Dallas has gone 3-0 with Cooper Rush under center, while Los Angeles has struggled to get to 2-2. Dallas has its limitations, but this tilt could be won by the defensive duo of Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence screaming off the edges.

4. Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

This is an even game, although it should be noted Cincinnati hammered the Ravens twice last year. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow almost threw for 1,000 yards over the two-game sweep of Baltimore in 2021, and if Baltimore is going to handle business on Sunday night, it starts with limiting Cincinnati’s passing attack. Both teams are 2-2 and trying to get atop the AFC North. A win in primetime would be a huge boost for either club in that journey.

3. New England Patriots (-3) at Detroit Lions

Why are the Patriots laying points? Yes, the Lions are a 1-3 club with a disastrous defense, but the Patriots are likely going to be without quarterback Mac Jones, who is dealing with an ankle sprain. Now, it’s up to rookie Bailey Zappe, who struggled significantly against the Green Bay Packers in a loss last week at Lambeau Field. Both of these teams have serious limitations, but one of them has their starting quarterback.

2. Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Cleveland Browns

The Chargers are the more talented team in this matchup. However, they are the Chargers, and this is when to be nervous if you’re a Los Angeles fan. Cleveland has had a very bizarre season. The Browns should have lost in Week 1 to the Carolina Panthers but were bailed out on a last-second Cade York field goal. Then, the following week, Cleveland was leading the New York Jets 30-17 in the final two minutes before losing. At 2-2, the Browns are a decent team who can run the ball. The Chargers can’t stop the run at all.

1. New Orleans Saints (-5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Why are the Saints favored? The Seahawks have been the better and healthier team through four weeks. Seattle may not have the better roster, but it has certainly looked the superior team to this juncture.
