NFL Week 6 games: 5 teams on upset alert

Looking at the NFL Week 6 games, these five teams have to beware the dreaded upset alert after being made a favorite.

5. Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at New Orleans Saints

The Bengals are the better team, but the Saints are at home and have a roster capable of beating anybody on a given Sunday. Also, Cincinnati has been a mess up front all year blocking for quarterback Joe Burrow. That could be a problem against Dennis Allen’s defense, which has Cam Jordan and Co. If Andy Dalton can simply make a few throws and avoid mistakes, the Saints could walk away with an upset win at home.

4. Cleveland Browns (-2.5) vs. New England Patriots

The Patriots are getting 2.5 points here, and it’s not clear why. While New England hasn’t been overly impressive, neither have the Browns, who were gashed constantly on the ground last week by Austin Ekeler and the Los Angeles Chargers. The gameplan for Bill Belichick will certainly include stacking the box to curtain Cleveland star running back Nick Chubb while trying to gash the Browns’ defense on the ground.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys

This is a rivalry game, and it’s for first place in the NFC East. While the Eagles are the better team, the Cowboys have an excellent defensive front led by Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. And while Dallas has backup quarterback Cooper Rush starting, he’s 4-0 this year and 5-0 in his career when getting the call. The Eagles have advantages, but the Cowboys are going to be a very tough out come Sunday night.

2. Arizona Cardinals (-2) at Seattle Seahawks

Why are the Seahawks underdogs in this game? They’re at home and playing great offensively. Geno Smith has performed really well throughout the season, and conversely, Kyler Murray has endured struggles so far, throwing for less than 6.0 yards per attempt. Both teams are 2-3, and while Arizona has more talent, Seattle has been playing better football through five weekends.

1. Buffalo Bills (-2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are underdogs at Arrowhead Stadium for the first time in the starting career of Patrick Mahomes. While Buffalo is excellent, these are two of the best teams in the league, and Mahomes has handled Buffalo in three-of-four meetings throughout his career. Kansas City has the firepower to overcome a huge day from Josh Allen, and for that reason, there’s good value in going with this as the top upset pick.
