NFL Week 9 odds: Making the case for each favorite
The NFL Week 9 odds are out in Vegas sports books, and we make cases for why each favorite won’t only win but also cover.
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts (-10.5)
The Colts get the Jets on a short week, having to travel. Also, this is a must-win for Indy after its overtime loss to the Titans.
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints (-6)
Atlanta had been playing better before being throttled by the Panthers. Expect the Saints’ defense to do the same in the Superdome.
Buffalo Bills (-14.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Urban Meyer is involved, and Trevor Lawrence can’t stop throwing interceptions. Huge day for Buffalo.
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)
The Bengals are coming off a horrific performance against the Jets. Look for Cincy to bounce back in a big way against its biggest rival.

Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)
The Broncos waived the proverbial white flag with the trade of Von Miller. Meanwhile, the Cowboys get Dak Prescott back.
Houston Texans at Miami Dolphins (-6.5)
Miami is atrocious, but it’s at home against the Texans, who have been routinely blown out since Week 1.
Las Vegas Raiders (-3) at New York Giants
The Raiders are going through an awful situation with Henry Ruggs (who has been released), but they have two weeks rest, the superior team and a New York squad on short rest.
Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (-5.5)
The Vikings just lost to Cooper Rush. At home. Off a bye week.
New England Patriots (-4) at Carolina Panthers
The Patriots are facing Sam Darnold, which has to be his worst nightmare after a litany of horrid performances against them with the Jets.
Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles
After losing two straight, the Chargers desperately need to handle business as the superior team on the road this weekend.

Arizona Cardinals (-2.5) at San Francisco 49ers
The Cardinals are the better team, with a long rest week, off a loss. Look for Arizona to take down the Niners and a struggling Jimmy Garoppolo.
Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs (-1)
There’s not much of a case, outside of the Chiefs having great talent and at some point, figuring out their issues.
Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Rams (-7.5)
No Derrick Henry, and the Rams are at home with a ridiculous pass rush against a bad offensive line.
Chicago Bears at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5)
The Steelers don’t do much offensively, but they have a terrific defense, and they’ll stifle Chicago.
