NFL win totals: 5 teams to bet the over in 2019

With NFL free agency and the draft behind us, we have a clear understanding of how the rosters stack up. This means it’s time to take a look at the 2019 NFL win totals. Sure, the occasional player could be signed or traded within the next few months, but that’s going to be the rare move.

With training camp beckoning in less than three months, the 90-man rosters are close to be finalized. In short, start prognosticating. Here are five teams that should outperform the NFL win totals set for them in Vegas.

5. Indianapolis Colts (9.5)

The Colts are the favorites to win the AFC South, and they should be. Last year, Indianapolis began the season at 1-5 and then finished with a 10-6 mark. There’s no reason to believe that the Colts re going to slide back this year. Andrew Luck is another year removed from his shoulder surgery and the defense should be better with a nice draft and the addition of Justin Houston. Indianapolis shouldn’t win 12 or 13 games, but 10 or 11 seems very doable.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6.5)

The Buccaneers are going to be a better team under head coach Bruce Arians. This is the same man that took over in Indianapolis during Andrew Luck’s rookie year when Chuck Pagnao was diagnosed with cancer and led the young Colts to a playoff appearance. He’s also the same guy that got the Arizona Cardinals to within a game of the Super Bowl in 2015. Don’t expect miracles in Tampa Bay, but the Buccaneers should be able to approach .500 with one fo the best quarterback whisperers we’ve ever known.

3. Buffalo Bills (6.5)

Buffalo is going to be better than people realize. Look, there are real concerns about whether Josh Allen will envelop into a top quarterback (or even a decent one), but Buffalo had a killer draft and the defense is stout. Add in a running game that should be towards the top of the league behind a rebuilt offensive line, and the Bills are going to win their fair share of games.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (9.5)

This is all about Carson Wentz. If you think he’s going to be healthy, just put the Eagles down for easy money on the over. If you believe Wentz is going to miss a good chunk of the season, write them off. Philadelphia has a ton of talent across the board, and I’m believing in Wentz to play a full 16, or something close to it.

1. Los Angeles Chargers (9.5)

The Chargers might have the best roster in football, and two of the teams in their division are subpar at best. Los Angeles should breeze to the over here, even if it doesn’t win the AFC West.
