Packers anticipate having Jimmy Graham back next season

The Green Bay Packers are coming off a forgettable season in which the team missed the NFL playoffs. It was the second straight season that the Packers missed out. Star tight end Jimmy Graham was thought to be a missing piece to the puzzle for Aaron Rodgers and company. However, that didn’t turn out to be the case.

Now the question is whether Graham will be with the team next season after a subpar effort in 2018. Apparently, Graham will still be around in Green Bay. At least, that’s the way the team is planning things moving forward, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

In 16 games for the Packers, Graham caught 55 passes on 89 targets finishing with 636 yards and two touchdowns. Not exactly ideal numbers for a player that was thought to be a game changer for Green Bay during the 2018 campaign.

Fortunately for Graham, the veteran tight end was able to play in every regular season game without injuries becoming a major issue. Graham’s future will become clear on March 15 with the 32-year-old due to a roster bonus as Rapoport pointed out.

With the Packers cleaning house by parting ways with Mike McCarthy and bringing in Matt LaFleur, Green Bay may look to surround Rodgers with a lot of talent during the NFL offseason to get this team back on track. Graham remains in the mix for the time being, but there’s a long way to go before the final roster is put together.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in Green Bay as this once-dominant squad tries to return to form.
