Packers place WR Davante Adams on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The Green Bay Packers moved to 6-1 in the 2021 season after moving past Washington in Week 7.

However, the Packers will likely be without star wide receiver Davante Adams as he was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, according to ESPN.

Adams tested positive for COVID-19, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Adams hasn’t been forced to follow protocols for unvaccinated players, an indication that he is vaccinated.

There is currently no clarity concerning whether Adams has been vaccinated, which will change the situation. If he’s received his shot and is asymptomatic, he would need two negative PCR tests 24 hours apart to play Thursday night against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.

Adams is amid another highly productive campaign. He’s currently second in the NFL with 52 catches and third with 744 receiving yards. He’s the Packers’ No.1 receiving option, and his absence will place greater importance on the running game to be a more significant factor against the Cardinals.

If Adams cannot play, star quarterback Aaron Rodgers will lean on Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Robert Tonyan. The Packers hope that Marquez Valdes-Scantling can return from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the last month.

The Packers will need all the offensive firepower it can get against the Cardinals’ high-powered offense led by MVP candidate Kyler Murray. Arizona has cruised through their first seven games as the only remaining undefeated team.

Green Bay will monitor Adam’s situation closely as it could play a significant factor in how Thursday’s game transpires.
