The speculation and endless rumors about the immediate future of superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski can finally come to an end. After some time to reflect, Gronkowski will return to the New England Patriots next season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Gronkowski met with head coach Bill Belichick and informed him of his intention to continue his NFL career with the team.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, met Tuesday with New England coach Bill Belichick. Telling him that Gronkowski will play for the Patriots this season. The decision ends speculation that Gronkowski could retire.

With Gronkowski back in the fold, the Patriots brass can breathe a sigh of a relief. The rebuilding process hasn’t officially begun in New England. Gronkowski still gives Tom Brady an elite target downfield. That might be enough to keep them in the title contender discussion. Although, the team will be hoping that everything else falls into place like it did last season.

AFC Futures

As a result, the attention turns to Brady and if he’s really having any doubts about continuing his NFL career. Brady has been rumored to be on the fence in the same way that Gronkowski was, but he hasn’t cleared the air outside of reports from others.

It’ll be interesting to see how things go from here on out for the Patriots and whether they can truly remain a dominant force in the AFC. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, things are changing in New England.
