Rams are actively trying to trade RB Cam Akers

The drama with running back Cam Akers has started once again, with the Los Angeles Rams seemingly ready to move on from the 23-year-old. Even though the team tried and failed to trade Akers last season and seemed to smooth things over, it seems like it is back to square one.

According to Rams head coach Sean McVay, the team has already spoken with a few different teams about a potential trade involving Akers, and the team seems determined to move him via Sarah Bishop of ESPN.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said general manager Les Snead has spoken with “a handful of teams” about a trade for running back Cam Akers, and “that’s the direction that we’re headed.”

This is an interesting development, as it seemed like the two Akers were on the same page, but a healthy scratch against the San Francisco 49ers was pretty telling, even though Akers acted like he didn’t know what was going on.

McVay made it clear that he made things clear to Akers, which goes to show there’s a pretty massive disconnect between the two sides.

“I feel very good about the clarity that was provided to him on Friday and Saturday, both through he and [agent] David Mulugheta,” McVay said. “And that’s unfortunate, but I feel like it was very clear in regards to our dialogue.”

It’ll be interesting to see if the Rams can trade Akers this time around and what they might get in return for the running back.
