Ravens Coach John Harbaugh comments on Lamar Jackson’s future
With many quarterbacks around the league securing lucrative deals, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens appears to be next in line.
The Ravens haven’t progressed toward serious extension talks with Jackson, but that remains on the dockets. Before the Ravens reach that point, the team has a decision ahead on the fifth-year option for his rookie deal for the 2022 campaign.

During an interview on the Rich Eisen Show this week, head coach John Harbaugh voiced that picking up option is a no-brainer. (h/t ESPN)
“Guarantee it,” Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh’s comments shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that Jackson has proven to be a franchise cornerstone. In his first three years as the full-time starter, he has guided the franchise to three consecutive playoff appearances.
Jackson took a step back last season from his MVP 2019 campaign, but he proved to be a guiding asset offensively. The Ravens have also repeatedly voiced that they desire to keep him as the franchise cornerstone under center for many years to come.

Harbaugh reiterated that notion, stating that there is no doubt concerning their feelings toward the Louisville product.
“He’s definitely going to be our quarterback,” Harbaugh said. “That’s the plan, absolutely.”
It’s simply a matter of time before the Ravens work out an extension with Jackson. Baltimore still holds plenty of time to work out a new deal, especially with the 2022 option expected to be picked up this offseason.
In other words, a huge payday is coming for Jackson; it’s just a matter of when not if.
