Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. would ‘love’ to play with Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens on Sunday surprisingly signed star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year deal worth up to $18 million.

Shortly after the move, Beckham took to social media to post a screenshot of a FaceTime call with former league MVP Lamar Jackson. That alone gave the inclination that Jackson could be returning to play with the Ravens at least through the 2023 season.

However, Beckham aired during his introductory press conference that he had not received a guarantee that he would play with the Pro Bowl quarterback.

“Lamar, if you’re watching, I would love to get to work with you,” Beckham said via ESPN.

The Ravens and Jackson remain in an unresolved situation, as there hasn’t been any movement toward an extension. Instead, the star quarterback is away from the team, especially after revealing he requested a trade from the Ravens in March.

Baltimore hasn’t expressed any interest in moving Jackson, which has further halted the discussion. Meanwhile, Beckham joins a Ravens team that desperately needed help in the passing game.

Baltimore’s wide receiver core ranked last in receiving yards in three out of the last four seasons. Beckham immediately steps in as the No. 1 receiving option with much to prove to earn a lucrative contract next offseason.

“We went into it knowing we were the underdogs,” general manager Eric DeCosta said. “And sometimes it’s a great story. Sometimes the underdog wins. We’re thrilled to have him here today, and we’re thrilled for what this means for our football team.”

The former Pro Bowler missed all of the 2022 season due to his recovery from a second torn ACL that occurred in Super Bowl 56.
