Seahawks teammate defends Sam Darnold after Rams loss

The Seattle Seahawks saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon after falling just short on the road against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks entered the contest rolling offensively, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, but that wasn’t the case in Week 11 action. Darnold threw four interceptions, marking the third time in his career that has occurred.

After the game, linebacker Ernest Jones IV sternly defended his quarterback against the criticism of his lackluster performance.

“Man, Sam’s been balling,” Jones said, via the team’s official website. “If we want to try to define Sam by this game, man, Sam’s had us in every f—— game. So for him to sit there and say, ‘Oh, that’s my fault,’ no, it’s not. There were plays that defensively we could have made, there were opportunities where we could have got better stops. It’s football, man. He’s our quarterback, we’ve got his back, and if you’ve got anything to say, quite frankly, f— you.”

Jones’ remarks showcase the team’s strong belief that Darnold can lead the franchise toward sustained success. The Seahawks hold a 7-3 record, which puts them squarely among the top records in the NFC playoff picture.

Darnold is putting up another productive campaign, ranking sixth with 2,541 passing yards, ninth with 17 touchdown passes, and seventh with a 105.0 passer rating. His play has been a significant part of Seattle’s strong start to the 2025 season.

If the Seahawks hope to make a push toward Super Bowl contention, Darnold will need to be a guiding factor with his arm.
