Seahawks Make Unexpected Joe Mixon Decision After Physical
The Seattle Seahawks have decided to reverse course and not sign former Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon to their practice squad.
The decision came after the team completed a physical on Mixon. The team had hoped to bring him on board, but that was contingent on his passing a physical.
Mixon had missed the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury, which appears to be playing a factor in his not getting the opportunity with the Seahawks.
Seattle instead addressed their need in the backfield elsewhere by signing running back Robert Henry Jr. off the Washington Commanders’ practice squad.
The front office also signed former Baltimore Ravens running back Dontae McMillan to their practice squad. These moves seemingly shut the door on Mixon getting another chance to join the Seahawks.
Seattle needs running back help as rookie Jadarian Price will miss at least three more games as he was placed on the injured reserve Saturday due to a chest injury.
Jacardia Wright, who was the only running back on Seattle’s practice squad, is working his way through a foot injury. He was placed on the practice squad and injured reserve on Tuesday.

All that left the Seahawks in need of addressing their running back room. The team is moving forward with a collective approach, as Emanuel Wilson is the leading option while George Holani is playing primarily as the third-down option.
Meanwhile, Velus Jones Jr. is sitting third on the depth chart, with Zach Charbonnet moving closer to his return as he recovers from a torn ACL that he suffered last January.
