Terrelle Pryor reveals why he chose to sign with the Jaguars

After a forgettable 2018 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars headed into the offseason with plans to upgrade the offense with a new quarterback and potentially a better receiving corps. The team’s first goal to get a solid quarterback and that was accomplished with the signing of former Philadelphia Eagles star, Nick Foles.

Along with adding Foles into the mix in Jacksonville, the Jaguars were able to sign quarterback-turned-wideout, Terrelle Pryor. The former Ohio State star recently talked about why he chose to sign with the Jaguars with Tom Coughlin seemingly being a motivating factor, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN.

“His view of receivers and how he teaches it, even when he was a head coach,” Pryor said. “I remember working out for him back in 2015. I was hurt coming off of the Browns and I got cut from the Browns in the preseason. I worked out for the Giants, and I was excited because I knew about Coughlin’s history with receivers and stuff. When I worked out for him and he didn’t sign me, I was kind of bummed out.”

Although Pryor successfully made the transition to wide receivers a few years ago in a breakout season with the Cleveland Browns, he’s dealt with injury issues which have resulted in him bouncing around the league with stints with the New York Jets, Washington Redskins, and Buffalo Bills.

With the Jaguars wanting to turn things around offensively, Foles could look in Pryor’s direction frequently during the 2019 campaign if he’s able to stay healthy and on the field.
