Titans could still be in the running for Jadeveon Clowney

Through the first month of free agency, Pro Bowl outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney has remained without a team. The Tennesse Titans have remained in the picture as a potential landing spot for Clowney over the last few weeks. With that in mind, general manager Jon Robinson has stated that what unfolds in the upcoming draft could impact their pursuit of the 27-year-old in free agency, according to Erik Bacharach of The Tennessean.

“Who we pick could potentially impact that,” Robinson said.

The Titans currently are slated to have picks in this year’s draft. Their first selection comes with the 29th overall pick. They also possess three seventh-round picks but don’t have any choices in either the fourth or sixth round.

There is much that could transpire in the draft that could sway them away from pursuing Clowney as there is plenty of talent defensively.

What may also impact that situation is both the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. Both teams are believed to have interest in acquiring him. That could push the asking price out of the range that the Titans are comfortable giving in any potential offer.

The initial belief was that Clowney would be signed to a new deal in the first couple of weeks in free agency, but the entire process has lingered. Much has come in the way of his desire to secure a lucrative deal with a considerable asking price.

It may be a matter of time before Clowney has a new deal this offseason.
