Tom Brady makes some telling comments on joining Bucs

For the first time in his illustrious NFL career, star quarterback Tom Brady will play for another team aside from the New England Patriots.

Brady had spent the first 20 years in the league with the Patriots before deciding to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency last month. It’s a move that the 42-year-old voiced in a piece written for The Players’ Tribune much confidence in proving the Buccaneers’ trust in him right. (H/T Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk)

“They’ve welcomed me as one of their own,” Brady wrote. “They want to listen to what I have to say. I’m excited to be embraced fully for what I can bring to the Bucs. In turn I’m ready to embrace fully a team that is confident in what I do — and what I bring — and is willing to go on this ride with me.”

Tampa Bay moved all-in with Brady with a fully guaranteed two-year, $50 million to have him lead the charge offensively. The Buccaneers are hoping to finally get over the hump as it’s been over a decade since their last trip to the playoffs.

At the same time, it’s an opportunity for Tom Brady to prove that he still has plenty left in the tank to play at a high level. There are those that doubt he can do just that with the Buccaneers, especially away from the Patriots for the first time in his career at his age. It’s all on him to showcase otherwise next season and beyond.
