Tyler Boyd signs one-year deal with Titans

After floating through the offseason without a new NFL home, veteran wide receiver Tyler Boyd inked a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million with the Tennessee Titans.

Boyd spent his first eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals where he tallied 513 catches for 6,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. That includes a pair of 1,000-receiving yard campaigns while posting 60 or more catches five times.

Last season, he finished with 67 receptions for 667 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The 29-year-old led the Bengals in total receptions from 2018 to 2020. He proved to be a highly reliable passing game option, but he had fallen out of favor in Cincinnati after the emergence of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Boyd joins a revamped wide receiver room that includes fellow offseason addition Calvin Ridley, who inked a four-year, $92 million deal in March. Meanwhile, DeAndre Hopkins will return for his second campaign with the Titans.

He will rejoin Brian Callahan, who spent five seasons with the Bengals. During that span, he notched 4,144 receiving yards and touchdowns.

Boyd holds an opportunity to play a significant role with the Titans, likely primarily playing in the slot where he excelled in Cincinnati.

The Titans are hoping to take a step forward with second-year quarterback Will Levis as the clear-cut starter. Levis experienced his fair share of ups and downs in his rookie campaign, recording 1,808 passing yards on a 58.4 percent completion rate with eight touchdown passes to four interceptions and held an 84.2 passer rating in nine games.
