Veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott agrees to deal with Patriots
Another veteran running back found a new home in the NFL on Monday, with former Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott landing with the New England Patriots.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, Elliott has agreed to a deal with the Patriots and will wear No. 15 with New England, which is his old college number at Ohio State.
Free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott posted on social media Monday that he is signing with the New England Patriots.
Elliott tweeted, “One Five, all the way live ! @Patriots,” referencing his plans to wear jersey No. 15, the number he wore in college while playing for Ohio State. He wore No. 21 with the Cowboys.

Ever since the Cowboys released Elliott, there was talk of him returning to Dallas on a short-term deal for less money, as they could still use him in the backfield alongside Pro Bowler Tony Pollard.
All signs seemed to point to a reunion with the Cowboys, with both sides simply taking their time and in no rush to get a deal done.
However, that all seems to have come crashing down with the Patriots swooping in to grab the three-time All-Pro, which turns out to be a solid move for Bill Belichick and company.

Although some believe Elliott has lost a step or two over the last few years in Dallas, he has still been his productive self, as he’s coming off a season in which he scored 12 touchdowns.
That kind of production on offense is exactly what the Patriots have been looking for, which means Elliott may have found a long-term home if he can prove his worth during the 2023 NFL season.
