Red Sox Continue Comeback, Prepare For Series With Yankees

Exactly one week ago bettors were questioning whether it was time to give up on the Boston Red Sox and a lot has changed in those short seven days.

At that time the Red Sox were 5-2 straight up over their last seven games during a week-long road trip. Since then they have won eight of their last ten game and the talk around Boston have gone from pessimistic to optimistic.

Last week the Red Sox future odds were 33/1, well down the list. They are now 12/1 to win it all and are among the teams with the ten best odds.

They are an arm’s reach away from the division-leading New York Yankees, 5.5 games to be exact. That may sound like a lot but considering at the end of June they were down 10 games and you can understand the tremendous progress this team is making.

Tonight they kick off an important series against their arch rivals the Yankees. The Yankees are the slight favorites to win with a –112 moneyline compared to Boston’s 102 moneyline.

Michael Pineda will start for the Yanks. He has a 8-5 record with a 3.79 ERA. Boston will be countering with Clay Buchholz who has a 3.27 ERA with a 7-6 record.

Boston beat the Marlins in their last game 6-3. They were favorites in that game with a –176 moneyline. The total was a PUSH.

The Yanks also won their last game in a similar fashion. They beat the Oakland Athletics 6-2 as –149 moneyline favorites. UNDER bettors went home happy in that game.

The total for the game is set at 8 runs. The Yankees trend toward the UNDER. The total has gone UNDER in 7 of NY Yankees’s last 10 games. The Red Sox trend toward the opposite direction. The total has gone OVER in 6 of Boston’s last 8 games when playing against New York.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m. ET.
