Ryan Fitzpatrick Best Man For The Team – Brian Flores
Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores says that playing Ryan Fitzpatrick over Josh Rosen at quarterback is best for the team.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, a 37 year old journeyman, should by right be backup to the 22 year old Josh Rosen. While Ryan Fitzpatrick is in no way the franchise’s future, he is according to Flores, it’s present.
Fitzpatrick was installed as the starting quarterback in Week 7, following poor performances by Josh Rosen. He is arguably the main reason that the Dolphins haven’t continued to be pushovers. At 3 – 11, wins are a valuable currency, and Fitzpatrick makes that more likely.

“I think it’s easy for people to sit and say you should do this or that,” Flores said.
“I don’t think those same people would stand in front of that group and say, ‘Hey, this is in the best interest of the team, for us to win this week.’ And that’s no knock on Josh. Maybe you think that’s in the best interest. But you’re not in front of this team every day. You’re not in the trenches. And a lot of people aren’t.
“I think Josh has done a lot of good things in practice,” Flores said.Â
“He really has. He’s thrown the ball well, he’s making good decisions. He’s throwing with more accuracy. At the end of the day, Fitz has played well also. And he’s got rapport with the team. Not that Josh doesn’t. He’s building from that standpoint.”

For Flores, there is not much to be gained from playing Rosen in the final two regular season games. Perhaps he feels there is nothing left to evaluate about the young signal caller.Â
“I think that is in the best interest of this team,” Flores said.
“So I think this is, philosophically, I think people are going to feel differently about it.”
