Saints Visit Panthers in NFC South Showdown on TNF

Thursday Night Football kicks off Week 11 of the NFL regular season when the New Orleans Saints visit the Carolina Panthers in an NFC South showdown. The current line has Carolina favored by 3.5 points with the over/under point total on 51.

Entering this game, New Orleans has an overall record of 4-5 straight up and 6-3 against the spread. On the road, the Saints are 2-2 SU and 4-0 ATS. Carolina on the season has an overall record of 3-6 SU and 2-6-1 ATS. At home, the Panthers are 2-3 SU and ATS.

Denver enters this game off a tough loss to Denver 25-23, while Carolina was beaten by Kansas City 20-17. Earlier in the season, the Saints hosted the Panthers and won 41-28 thanks to 465 yards passing and 4 touchdowns from star quarterback Drew Brees.

However, the Saints loss to Denver might be hard to get over. New Orleans tied the game with a 1:22 left in regulation and lined up to kick the extra point in what would have given them a 24-23 lead. However, Denver blocked the extra point attempt and returned it for a two-point conversion.

Nevertheless, Brees is having another stellar season with 2,992 yards passing, 24 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions.

The New Orleans defense had six quarterback sacks against Denver and intercepted two Broncos passes.

Carolina blew a lead of 17 points at home in its loss to Kansas City last Sunday. Cam Newton threw one touchdown pass and one interception in the game for Carolina.

On the season, Newton has 1994 yards passing, 10 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions. However, he has 636 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

Defensively the Panthers played well for one half. Luke Keuchly the Panthers All-Pro linebacker is the key to the defense. He is fourth in the league in tackles with 88.

Both teams are coming off tough losses and need a win to have any chance of thinking about making the postseason.

The OVER has cashed in each of the past 4 games between the team rivals.

The underdog has covered the number in each of the past 4 games between the two.

New Orleans is 4-1 ATS over its past 5 games against Carolina.

Prediction: Brees is having another excellent season and the Carolina defense is not what it used to be. Lean here toward the Saints.
