SEC Championship Odds Not Good News For Florida

No. 18 Florida are up against some tough odds as they go up against No.2-ranked Alabama in the Georgia Dome later this after noon (readers can watch it on ESPN at 4 p.m. ET). The Gators are big 17.5-point underdogs.

The large point spread is the second largest in SEC championship history. Why are the Gators such large underdogs? Florida has been struggling to score as of late and the Crimson Tide are rolling as they usually do. Most futures have them as the favorites to win it all.

Alabama opened at 17-point favorites at most books and still hover around that mark everywhere we have seen. Bettors and books do not believe the SEC title game against the Crimson Tide’s defense is going to be the time that Florida turns around their slumping offense.

Florida is 4-0 covering the spread, though. However, Alabama has also covered in their last six games. In the last 11 times these teams have met the Gators have only covered once.
