The Baltimore Ravens Look Unbeatable Right Now

The Baltimore Ravens are riding the crest of a wave, inspired by the mouthwatering play of quarterback Lamar Jackson.

He recently broke Michael Vick’s rushing record, and is on course to rush for over 1,000 yards this season.

With Jackson’s ability to run away from any NFL player, the Baltimore Ravens offense is formidable. Amid all the praise for Jackson, it’s easy to forget that the entire Baltimore Ravens team is packed with quality.

Particularly the defense, which played a vital role in the 41 – 7 dismantling of the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Running back Mark Ingram echoed Jackson’s recent comments that Baltimore has a singular goal – become champions.

“Any time you’re 8-2, you’ve got a special group of guys,” he said. 

“And I think we really have a special group of guys. Guys who understand each other, guys who believe in each other, guys who want to fight for each other. Guys who understand the value of preparation one day at a time. We have a goal of being champions, so we don’t have time to rest.”

It’s easy to forget that Baltimore’s previous two Super Bowl wins have been built on a strong defence. Outside linebacker Matthew Judon says that the defence has the offense’s back.

“The defense was locked in all day,” he said.

“I think we had one terrible drive, where we missed some tackles and some alignments. But [the Texans’ offense is] on scholarship, too. They made their plays as well. But when the offense is clicking, that’s on them. When the defense is clicking, we have to have [our] offense’s back. And that’s what we did today.”

The Ravens continue their march towards the Super Bowl against last year’s runners up, the Los Angeles Rams, next week on Monday Night Football.
