Tyronn Lue Aiming For Freshness In The Playoffs

Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue is hoping for a longer playoff run than last year when they lost in Round 2.

After being the title favourites all season, the Los Angeles Clippers blew a 3 – 1 lead against the Denver Nuggets.

As a result, Ty Lue was brought in to replace Doc Rivers as head coach. Lue’s postseason preparation strategy has drawn some gossip that they were trying to avoid the Lakers in Round 1.

The Los Angeles Clippers rested Leonard, George and other starters in recent defeats to the Rockets and the Thunder. Lue insists it’s about keeping his team healthy rather than dropping into the more favourable No. 4 seed in the West.

“I don’t give a damn what anybody else thinks on the outside,” Lue said.

“We decided to go health over anything else. We finally got our team healthy, and that is what we focused on.”

Tyronn Lue later added: “Whatever people say on the outside, I don’t care. I don’t read Twitter, have Twitter and Insta-twit, all that, I don’t care about all that. I am my own man and I do what I want to do, that’s how I live my life.”

As it was last year, the Clippers will come up against the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs. If they win, they will face the ominous Utah Jazz or the number 8 seed from the Play-In.

In the pandemic season, the team with the freshest players might well prevail in the playoffs.

“If you look at our Cleveland days, none of our starters played the last two games of the season,” said Lue.

“We took health, and that is the most important thing to me.”
