Jason Garrett Didn’t Like Greg Hardy’s Hilarious 9/11 Joke
On Friday during the second round of the NFL Draft, Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy, noted woman-beater, made a 9/11 joke on Twitter. Because of course that’s going to go over well with his throngs of “fans†out there.
Apparently the whole exchange began when a fans of the Panthers, Hardy’s former team, tweeted out and image of Carolina’s wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin and newly drafted rookie Devin Funchess.
Truth be told, the joke wasn’t all that egregious on the scale of athlete dumb tweets, but the fact that it came from Hardy really elevated the angry response. It wasn’t really a joke “about†the Twin Towers expense, obviously.
Not that it mattered. It was ill advised at best and disgustingly insensitive at worst. That’s certainly how his new coach Jason Garrett took it, who has already had a chat with his future problem player.
“Distinguish yourself with your play, not with what you say,†said Garrett, according to Fox Sports. The only official social media policy in place in Dallas at the moment asks that players use “good restraint,†which doesn’t seem like quite enough, considering that circus.
Goodbye 4ever

Perhaps Hardy took Garrett’s words to heart, as he has since insinuated he may leave Twitter forever. Now if only he’d leave the NFL or, better yet, the country.
