Should Bettors Give Up On The Red Sox?
Sitting at last place in the AL East, the Boston Red Sox are down, but is it time for bettors to give up on Boston?
As far as future odds for the World Series winner goes, they sit way down the list at 33/1. However, they just went 5-2 straight up on a seven-day road trip, making moneyline bettors some serious green.
In their last outing they defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, a team that sits in fourth in the AL East but only one-game behind the division leading Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, 12-6. They sent over bettors to the payout window big time with a whopping 12-run game and had a 145 moneyline as underdogs.
In fact, with their most recent road trip they have many analysts saying positive things and with good reason. With the win over the Blue Jays, the Red Sox went from being nine games behind in a four-way AL East race to six. Imagine what they can do with a whole second half of the season left to play.
Six runs is still a lot of points for a pitching staff to allow a team to put up on the board, but the squad has gotten significantly better since Carl Willis took over as pitching coach and Clay Bucholz has seemed to find his groove. Not to mention that David Ortiz is still a powerhouse hitter, hitting three over the fence over his last five games.
No, the Red Sox are a team that you should not pass up when scanning the books just yet.
