Commanders OC sends message about Terry McLaurin
The unresolved contract situation between the Washington Commanders and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin remains a distraction for the team as it heads toward the start of the 2025 NFL season.

McLaurin hasn’t been happy with the process, and it is starting to wear on the coaching staff, namely offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who expressed his frustration about not having his best receiver participating in training camp, via John Keim of ESPN.
“There hasn’t been a ton of contact with him,” Kingsbury said of McLaurin on Friday. “He’s been here, but he’s been working with trainers, so until he gets back on the grass, that’s when we’ll start building that back up.”
However, Kingsbury believes McLaurin knows enough from what they installed last season, which resulted in the franchise’s best season in recent memory.
“It’s just time on task, and luckily they had last year to build a lot of rapport and chemistry and Terry understands our system going into Year 2, so that should expedite the process,” Kingsbury said. “But to me, time on task together on the grass is really the only way that you can continue to build.”
Only time will tell how this situation pans out and whether it ultimately ends up in a lucrative deal getting signed or the two sides parting ways in the form of a trade, which many teams around the league would likely hope happens, especially teams in the NFC East.
