Bengals WR A.J. Green On Rookie Amari Cooper: ‘He’s Going To Be A Great One’
There’s been a lot of buzz around the NFL about yet another talent-filled rookie class of players set to get their professional football careers underway this weekend in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season. Among those players is former Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper of the Oakland Raiders.
Cooper will make his debut on Sunday in Oakland against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals with one of the best wide receivers in the business set to take center stage when Cooper is watching the Raiders defense go to work. Four-time All-Pro wideout of the Cincinnati Bengals will be back on the gridiron this weekend catching passes from quarterback Andy Dalton once again.
Heading into the showdown with the Raiders on the road, Green was asked about Cooper and his impression of the rookie, via Raiders.com:
Q: What are your impressions on Amari Cooper?
Green: “He’s a special player. I’ve been watching him since he was in college. He’s going to be a great one.â€
The Raiders are in a similar situation to the Bengals a few years ago when both Dalton and Green came into the league. Both players exceeded expectations and have led the team into the playoffs four years in a row.
Oakland came up big in the 2014 NFL Draft by selecting quarterback Derek Carr in the second round. Carr quickly came into his own during his rookie season after earning the starting job and is expected to take another leap forward with Cooper and newcomer Michael Crabtree added to the receiving corps.
As for the Bengals, Cincinnati aims to get back into the postseason and finally secure a playoff win after four years of losing in their first game right out of gate in the playoffs.
