Marc Gasol: Pau Gasol Should Sign With The Spurs In Free Agency
After two seasons with the Chicago Bulls, two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol has a tough decision to make this summer once he officially opts out of his contract with the team. Gasol is expected to test the free agency market once again this summer with all signs pointing to the veteran leaving Chicago.
With Gasol’s decision fourth coming, his brother, fellow NBA star Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies, was recently asked what Pau should do once he becomes a free agent for the second time in three years. Marc believes Pau should leave the Windy City to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, via Peter Edmiston of The Commercial Appeal:
Marc Gasol: "My advice to Pau, at his age with the things he cares about, not that (we've talked); my advice would be to go to San Antonio."

Marc elaborated on his advice to his older brother by stating that the Spurs franchise has the perfect kind of stability that would benefit Pau in the later stages of his NBA career, via Edmiston:
Marc Gasol, on why Pau should sign w/ SA: "The way (the Spurs) manage everything, they way they work as a franchise from top to bottom…"

With 40-year-old star Tim Duncan likely heading into retirement after this season, Gasol would be the ideal replacement alongside fellow veterans LaMarcus Aldridge and David West. Gasol brings championship experience along with a skill set that would fit perfectly in Gregg Popovich’s system.
Although Marc believes Pau would be a great fit in San Antonio, and there’s a lot of evidence to support that fact that he is, there’s been no indication whether the Spurs are even interested in Gasol. San Antonio may concentrate their efforts on signing superstar Kevin Durant this summer making Gasol a secondary option.
