Will Southern Miss. or Tulane Get a Win Today?
It has been a rough year for both Southern Mississippi and Tulane football. They are the only team in the Conference USA that are both winless in their division and winless overall. When you have a defeated streak going, the obvious question to start asking is will either of these teams get a win this week?
Southern Mississippi will have their work cut out for them as they will be going up against Central Florida. UCF has the momentum going into this game as they are coming off a win against East Carolina. UCF also sit on top of the Conference USA East division while Southern Mississippi sits at the bottom.
The defending conference champions, Southern Mississippi, is off to what can be described as a catastrophic start and that is not even hyperbole. Southern Mississippi needs a win but it seems doubtful they will get it against UCF.
Betonline.com has UCF as the 17 point favorite according to the spread. The moneyline for the game is Southern Mississippi at +590 to UCF’s -750. The over/under for the game is at 51.
The book keepers do not seem to have much faith that Southern Mississippi is going to get a win today and neither do I.
Tulane seems to have themselves in an even worse situation compared to Southern Mississippi. Tulane is taking on Southern Methodist. The Southern Methodist Mustangs do not look good on paper having a 2-3 losing record, but it looks much better compared to Tulane’s 0-5.
Also, Tulane has not beat SMU since 2008. They have met every year since then and Tulane has consistently came up short. The book keepers at betonline.com also believe that the odds are stacked against Tulane.
The point spread favors SMU at -19. The moneyline for SMU is at a whopping -950, while the line for Tulane sits at +710. The over/under is at 50.
I believe that Southern Mississippi will get a win before Tulane does, but I expect each of these teams to drop to 0-6 after Saturday college ball is all said and done today.
