NBA Rumors: Clippers Remains ‘Committed’ To Re-Signing Blake Griffin To Long-Term Deal

The Los Angeles Clippers are on the verge of another early exit in the NBA playoffs. Along with the Utah Jazz having a 3-2 led in the series and set to play on their home floor in Game 6, the Clippers could be in danger of losing some of their best players this summer starting with veteran forward Blake Griffin.

There’s been some speculation that Griffin could leave the Clippers this summer when he presumably becomes a free agent in July. Griffin and Chris Paul have the opportunity to test free agency this summer with the consensus being that Griffin is the more likely to leave Los Angeles of the two and apparently the team is still committed to re-signing him, via Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical:

Management remains committed to signing him to a long-term deal this summer, league sources tell me.

Griffin, who will be arguably one of the most sought-after players in free agency, went down with another season-ending injury in the playoffs this year. Griffin suffered toe injury that ended his potential final playoff run with the Clippers leaving the team with what is looking like a first-round playoff exit.

The durability of the five-time All-Star has come into question as he simply hasn’t been able to stay healthy on a consist basis over the last few years. A player that depends on his athleticism being an injury concern is not a good sign for his future.

Regardless of the injury issues, Griffin will be a hot commodity this summer with a lot of teams bound to come calling while the Clippers desperately try to keep him in Los Angeles.
