NBA Rumors: Cavaliers Could Pursue Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony After Potential Buyouts

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a talented team with championship aspirations and have arguably the best players in the league leading the way for their squad in superstar LeBron James. Unfortunately, they’re a step behind the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors and need to something about that during the offseason.
Over the past few weeks, there have been rumors floating around about the team potentially pursuing Paul George or another All-Star-caliber in a trade. Getting George from the Indiana Pacers appears difficult for the Cavs due to their lack of tradable assets, but it doesn’t mean they can figure out a way to bring in talent this summer.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the possibility of eventually luring Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony to Cleveland could be in the workouts. Instead of trade for these stars, the Cavs may wait until they’re bought out from their teams:

Wade, Anthony, and LeBron have always talked about potentially ending their careers together while playing on the same team in the NBA. Chris Paul is another star player that has desired this pairing of superstars, but he will still command a high price on the free agent market this year.
Both Wade and Anthony are in awkward situations with their current teams. The Chicago Bulls traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night leaving Wade with no chance of competing, and the New York Knicks have been asking Anthony to waive his no-trade clause for quite some time now with Phil Jackson wanting to move on from the veteran forward.
Eventually, the Bulls and Knicks may come to some agreement with these players on a buyout making them free agents. If that turned out to be the case, the Cavaliers would be waiting with arms open as adding those two or even one of those two may give them a chance to compete against the Warriors next season.
