John Wall Trying To Recruit Paul George To The Washington Wizards
Perennial All-Star point guard John Wall of the Washington Wizards as a plan during the NBA offseason. Wall, who is hoping to take the Wizards to the next level next season, is reportedly recruiting superstar Paul George to play alongside him in Washington, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated:
Washington Wizards All-Star guard John Wall told ESPN’s The Undefeated that he is recruiting Indiana Pacers small forward Paul George in hopes that George will push for a trade to the nation’s capital.
The Wizards have the dynamic backcourt duo of Wall and sharpshooter Bradley Beal. The combination of both these talented players hasn’t been enough to get them over the hump in the Eastern Conference with LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers proving to be too much to handle.
Not only have the Cavs proven to be superior, but the Boston Celtics have also had the edge of the Wizards making the situation in Washington difficult for Wall who is the cusp of superstardom.
Fortunately for Wall, the Wizards have had trade talks with the Pacers to acquire George, via The Undefeated:
The Wizards have had trade conversations with the Pacers, a source told The Undefeated. The source added that the Pacers have been patient and no deal with the Wizards is close at the moment.
At this point, the Wizards don’t seem to be in the running to land George despite making the trade call. The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, and the Cavs appear to be the most likely destinations.
Washington, however, hasn’t created much buzz with Los Angeles and Cleveland seemingly the top-two candidates for George’s services. That could quickly change if the Wizards can come up with an intriguing trade package.
