Panthers TE Greg Olsen stilling mulling a holdout
When Carolina Panthers training camp gets under way, there’s a chance tight end Greg Olsen will not report with the rest of his teammates.
Olsen expressed frustration with his contract situation in June, that hasn’t changed. Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, agent Drew Rosenhaus recently made it clear that a holdout is still being discussed.
“Echoing Olsen’s recent comments about the player’s desire for a new deal, Rosenhaus said a decision hasn’t been made regarding whether Olsen will show up for training camp. Due to make $6.5 million in each of the next two years, Olsen wants something that better reflects his productivity.â€
Olsen is set to make $6.5 million base salary for each of the next two seasons.
The tight end has been one of the NFL’s most durable players throughout his career. He’s only missed two games, both of which came in his rookie season of 2007.
Olsen has also demonstrated consistently high-end production. He’s eclipsed the 800 yard plateau in each of the last five seasons. He’s also shown no signs of slowing down, as the last three years have all yielded at least 77 receptions and 1,008 yards.
