76ers’ Joel Embiid blasts Andre Drummond for not playing ‘defense’
The Philadelphia 76ers are a team on the rise in the NBA with the two-headed monster of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons leading the way. Embiid proved his worth last year with solid play in the 31 games he played averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Embiid has gotten off to a fast start today as well with the center already averaging a double-double in three of four games the team has played. The Kansas product is putting up 19.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game so far and is coming off an impressive performance against the Detroit Pistons in which he scored 30 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and recorded two steals while going head-to-head against Andre Drummond.
After the game, Embiid made a point of it to take a shot at Drummond who was apparently talking trash during their matchup, via Keith Pompey of The Inquirer.
“Defensively, he doesn’t play any defense,†Embiid said of what he saw. “When we started the game, he was being aggressive and he was talking, too. … So what I was like [in my mind] ‘You want to do that? I’m going to kick your [butt] then. So that’s what I did.â€
Apparently, Drummond wasn’t too happy about Embiid’s not so subtle shots at him. Drummond took to Twitter to responded to the comments made by the 76ers center.
See you Dec 2nd😏

Drummond, of course, was referring to the next matchup between the two centers in December. That game will be played in Philadelphia and is bound to be an entertaining one with arguably two of the best players at their position doing battle in the paint.
