Odds Makers: Browns Will Not Make the Playoffs, Win Total at Nine

For the 2019 NFL season and beyond, expectations are high for the Cleveland Browns, Greedy Williams the Browns’ second round pick in last week’s draft is calling for the team to reach the Super Bowl.

However, not all sportsbooks even have the Browns favored to reach the postseason, let alone the Super Bowl.

Odds for all 32 teams in the NFL to make the postseason came out this past weekend and several sportsbooks have the Browns at EVEN to make the playoffs, but -120 to miss them. Early bettors favored Cleveland to reach the postseason, pushing odds for both sides to -110.

Cleveland has not played in the playoffs since 2002 and last season was 7-8-1 after going 0-16 and 1-15 the two previous seasons.

The AFC North is expected to be tough once again with Pittsburgh and Baltimore set to do battle with Cleveland. With a new head coach and new system in place for Cincinnati, the Bengals could surprise opponents as well.

Nevertheless, Cleveland is favored to win the AFC North at +140, while Pittsburgh is +150 and Baltimore +300.

New England tops the AFC in odds to reach the postseason at -900, while Kansas City is second highest at -550. The best odds for NFC teams are the Saints and Rams at -310 and the Philadelphia Eagles at -190.

The Browns win total opened at 9 with the OVER -130 and the UNDER +110, which is three games higher than its closed last season at 6-10.

New England, which finished the regular season 11-5 in 2018, has the highest win total of 11. The Patriots top the win total odds board for the fourth straight season. Since 2002, New England is 13-3-1 on the OVER for win totals which is tops in the NFL.

Just three other NFL teams have a win total in the double digits at 10.5. Those three teams are the NFC’s Los Angeles Ram and New Orleans Saints and the AFC’s Kansas City Chiefs.

Many sportsbooks lowered the Chiefs win total prior to releasing it on Sunday after the most recent off-field incident involving Tyreek Hill.
