Dallas Cowboys Stand to Lose At Least One Star

The Dallas Cowboys have a potential problem when it comes to signing their best players to new contracts.

For the Dallas Cowboys, money isn’t an issue. Convincing the players that they have a good project isn’t the issue either. The issue is that the players in question are all perfectly happy to wait for more money.

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper are the current Dallas Cowboys question marks. The Cowboys training camp has been dominated by speculation about whether the trio will extend their deals.

The mixed messages coming out of the Cowboys will have fans pulling their hair out. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was confident of dealing on Tuesday.

However, Jones also said that the deals likely won’t be done before they finish their training camp in Oxnard, California. The team breaks up on August 15.

“Oh, I think you can easily get out of Oxnard (without getting deals done),” Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.

“Be back in Dallas before anything gets done. As a matter of fact, I don’t see any momentum that would lead me to believe we’re going to get anything done while we’re out here (in Oxnard).”

The ‘generous’ deals on the table would reportedly make each player one of the top 5 highest paid in their position.

Ezekiel Elliott continues to holdout. That leaves Cooper and Prescott available for negotiations.

Although, neither are in a hurry. With three players to extend, and one franchise tag, one player will wind up as a free agent next year.

Elliott hs two years left on his rookie deal. For him, another year towards free agency won’t hurt a bit. Besides, the only thing he can do is to withdraw his services.

We will see in September which of the Cowboys players are willing to prove their worth.
