Raiders wideout Antonio Brown loses second grievance hearing over helmet

It has been nothing short of an eventful offseason for Oakland Raiders wideout Antonio Brown. The controversial star has been involved in various off-the-field issues.

The latest being a situation involving his current helmet being banned for the upcoming season. This has led to him filing a grievance with the NFL. According to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, Brown has now lost his second file attempt to the league.

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown has lost his second grievance hearing with the NFL regarding the use of his old helmet, but he is moving forward with a deal for an approved helmet in the near future, sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday.

Beyond the issues with his frostbitten feet, Brown has had trouble getting his helmet approved by the NFL as it has been ruled as outdated. It is the same helmet that he has worn throughout his career.

This latest grievance saw him ask for a one-year grace period before he would have to change his helmet. Along with that, he has been looking to find a specific Schutt Air Advantage helmet dating back to a 2010 model that he has yet to acquire.

Nonetheless, this latest denial by the NFL could put yet another bump in Brown’s helmet situation. At this point, there is no clarity in terms of how he will respond to the entire matter. With the start of the 2019 season now less than two weeks away, the Raiders are hoping that this matter can be squared away with their star wideout being back on the field.
