Indiana Pacers Shock Lakers With Comeback Win

The Indiana Pacers shocked the NBA-best Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, coming from behind to win 105 – 102.

Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis finished the game with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon finished with 14 points and 6 assists. It was Malcolm Brodgon who scored a reverse layup to give the Indiana Pacers the lead with 36 seconds left.

The Pacers comeback snapped the Lakers’ road win streak of 14 games. Los Angeles was only two road wins away from the NBA record.

The Lakers are now 24 – 4 on the season, the same record as the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks and the Lakers face each other on Thursday, in a potential NBA finals warmup.

“Definitely a big win for us,” Brogdon said.

“We really wanted to send a message to the elite teams in the league and get some respect. We’ve had some big wins but this is the biggest one.”

“We just had to execute down the stretch, get some stops and make good shots,” Sabonis said.

“We played a whole 48 minutes, we got the stops out there. That was key for us.”

The Lakers were without Anthony Davis on the night, who couldn’t keep going indefinitely. After battling through injury and illness, the Lakers leader in points, rebounds and blocks finally succumbed to a right ankle sprain he sustained on Sunday against Atlanta.

In his stead, LeBron James had 20 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

“The difference between winning and losing was made shots versus missed shots,” James said.

“Sometimes the ball happens that way.”

“Our guys competed their tails off,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said.

“I’m very proud of them.”
