Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy isn’t crazy about fake crowd noise

Professional sports in this country and around the world are dealing with some drastic changes in order to get back to business as usual in 2020. The NBA, NHL, and MLB have all gotten used to their new situation, but the NFL is up next and it poses an unusual challenge that new Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is not a fan of as the start of the season approaches.

McCarthy held nothing back in a recent interview in which he was asked about the fake crowd that the NFL will be pumping into stadiums around the country. The veteran head coach is happy about the change as he made abundantly clear, via Pro Football Talk.

“It’s league mandated,” Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said. “They’re trying to pull all the football criteria together for the regular-season games. It seems like they’re not settled on a decibel level – a level of noise – so I was kind of waiting to see exactly how loud it was going to be, particularly the crowd noise that’s going to be the same in every stadium. So that’s a pretty accurate example of what to expect.”

McCarthy made it clear he’s “not a fan.”

The Cowboys and the rest of the league will have to get comfortable in their new situation in the same way all the other major sports leagues in this country have during the COVID-19 pandemic.
