Bittersweet Rajon Rondo Acquisition For Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers traded for veteran point guard Rajon Rondo from the Atlanta Hawks, it was announced on Thursday.
In Rajon Rondo, the Clippers have added championship winning experience and leadership. He won the NBA title with the other LA team, the Lakers, just last season.
However, it comes at a price. The Clippers sent the Hawks two future second round picks, and Lou Williams.
Lou Williams is the former 6th Man Of The Year, and just passed 15,000 career points in the Clippers’ recent win over San Antonio.

“He’s going to be missed for everything he brought and not just basketball,” Lue said.Â
“I just think he was a great person. That’s what I love the most. We all knew he was a great basketball player, but just him as a human being and what he stood for and how he always boosted the morale of the team with everyone around him. That’s what we are going to miss the most.”
Paul George described the departure of Lou Williams as a ‘tough loss’.
“You hate to see these things happen,” George said. “We’re going to miss Lou. The best way we can do this, to send him off well, is to go out and try to win it [all].”
Trading Williams away wasn’t something Tyronn Lue did lightly. However, in return he gets a player who he has known since 2011. He was an assistant with The Celtics when Rajon Rondo played there.

“He’s fiery, that’s what we need,” Lue added.Â
“He’s tough. He understands the game. And he respects people as a straight shooter and will tell him the truth. That was my biggest thing in Boston, was just being honest with him and telling him the truth and keeping it real with him.”
